Sinn Féin’s Dublin Councillors will be delivering a letter to the Israeli Ambassador today at 1pm at the Israeli Embassy in opposition to the ongoing slaughter of innocent civilians in Gaza by the state of Israel.

Speaking on behalf of the Sinn Féin team, Councillor Chris Andrews said:

“Sinn Féin is utterly opposed to the indiscriminate slaughter taking place in Gaza.

“For years the people of Gaza have been subjected to an illegal and brutal blockade.

“They are now being subjected to collective punishment by the Israeli government. This must end now.

“We are calling on Israel to immediately halt their slaughter of the Palestinian people.”

Dear Ambassador,

As Elected Representatives for the City of Dublin, South Dublin, Fingal and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown we would like to express our disgust with Israel’s slaughter of over 200 Palestinians in the Gaza strip.

The disproportionate use of force to collectively punish the citizens of the Gaza Strip must stop.

As a country that claims to be a democratic state, the use of such overwhelming power is unacceptable.

The rule of international law must be respected, and all those responsible for its violations must be held to account.

We call on the Israeli Government to cease the indiscriminate attacks on the Gaza Strip, and to lift the blockade of Gaza and comply with international obligations.
