Mayors and Cathaoirligh from across Ireland are meeting today at 12 noon on the steps of the Mansion House to show their support for civil marriage equality. A website with more information is available on

Mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr. Fintan Warfield said;

“Mayors for Marriage Equality are advocating for a Yes vote on ahead of the May 22nd Marriage Equality referendum. As an openly gay Mayor of a local authority in Ireland, I am proud to stand alongside Mayors and Cathaoirligh from across this state in calling for a Yes vote. Gay and lesbian people are active participants in our communities. They and future generations deserve to be able to marry the person they love.”

Lord Mayor of Dublin City, Christy Burke added;

“As representatives of all people across cities and towns in Ireland, it is important that we recognise the civil rights of all and included in that, the right to marry the person we love. I am delighted to stand with my colleagues and call on people to support marriage for all.”
