South County Dublin Sinn Féin councillor Fintan Warfield today attended the launch of the Yes Equality campaign. Yes Equality is a new independent civic group campaigning for a yes vote in the upcoming same-sex marriage referendum.
Speaking after the launch Mayor Warfield said:
“I am proud to support this referendum and I am urging people to vote yes to civil marriage equality.
“Irish citizens now have the opportunity to say that we value all of our relationships equally.
“We heard a number of inspirational speeches today and I wish to take this opportunity to commend the work of all the organisations involved in supporting this campaign.”
Fellow South Dublin councillor Sarah Holland said:
“There were powerful testimonies given today on Marriage Equality and the surrounding civil rights issues. This is about love in its simplest form and sharing the right to marry with those currently excluded.”
