Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has congratulated Senator Fintan Warfield on becoming the first Senator elected to the 25th Seanad on the Cultural and Educational panel this evening.

Teachta Adams:

“I want to warmly welcome Senator Fintan Warfield to the Sinn Féin team in Leinster House and congratulate him on his election to the 25th Seanad.

“Fintan is an outstanding young representative and will be a strong asset to the Seanad during its next term, advocating for equality, Irish unity and a fairer society.

“Fintan has served on South Dublin County Council for the past two years, including as Mayor of South Dublin in 2014/15, is a talented young musician, advocate for the Arts, and a prominent LGBT+ campaigner.

“His knowledge and work rate have clearly been acknowledged by the nominating bodies to the Cultural and Educational panel, where he was the only candidate contesting to receive more than one nomination, from both the National Youth Council of Ireland and the Genealogical Society of Ireland, as well those entitled to vote, having exceeded the quota by a sizable margin.”
