Mayor of South Dublin and Sinn Féin Councillor for Templeogue-Terenure Fintan Warfield has today launched an initiative titled ‘Shadow the Mayor’, providing transition year students from South Dublin County with an opportunity to apply for workplace experience in the Mayor’s office.
The initiative will commence on Monday, 13th April 2015 with the final student completing the initiative on Friday, 22nd May 2015.
A total of six young people will each receive a week’s work experience shadowing the Mayor.
Mayor Fintan Warfield said;
“At the Mayor’s youth conference held in RUARED at the beginning of March, young people stressed the need for meaningful work experience during secondary education.
“As a young person, I understand how difficult it can be to build a competitive CV for the interview process.
“I wish to welcome transition year applications for a week’s work experience shadowing the Mayor of South Dublin.
“The placement initiative will take place in April and May with six young people from South Dublin County each receiving one week work experience during that time”.
Mayor Warfield concluded;
“During their week, the transition year students will have an opportunity to experience the democratic process first hand, attend events alongside the Mayor, write speaking notes, prepare motions and questions, engage with the press and work on local issues”.
