Sinn Féin Councillor and Mayor of South Dublin County Council Fintan Warfield has expressed his continued support for the staff of Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann who today entered their second day of industrial action in response to the privatisation of bus routes across the state.

The Sinn Féin Councillor for Templeogue-Terenure said;

“The staff of Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann, despite their valued work, are being backed into a corner and forced to take industrial action in response to the privatisation of our public bus routes.

“Sinn Féin and I strongly support the workers in this move to avoid the undermining of public transport companies. Sinn Féin believes that maintaining companies like Aer Lingus, Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann, is vital to Ireland’s recovery and that privatisation is an inevitable path to damaging Ireland’s future.

“Seeing as both the employees of these companies, as well as the consumer, suffer from the privatisation of these routes, we should firmly oppose this move.

“Public transport benefits all, and Sinn Féin will uphold this principal as a priority in Government.”
